Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) Program is Canada’s largest single source of federal government support for industrial R&D in Canada. Each year over $3 billion in cash refunds and tax credits are administered to over 20,000 taxpayers – the average claim size is around $150k. There is a very broad range of fields eligible under the program, including: Civil Engineering, Software Engineering, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering, etc.
This program is geared towards small and medium sized Canadian companies however many either haven’t heard of the program or do not think that the work they do is eligible. The presentation will cover the eligibility requirements of the SR&ED program, provide a broad range of eligible project examples, and identify the financial drivers and incentives available. The goal of the presentation is to highlight that most engineering firms that are involved in developing or improving may be eligible, and to explain how easy the application can be.
