One of the greatest contemporary public safety issues affecting Canada and the future of engineering is climate change. As time passes by, climate change will be a touch point that many engineers will face in their careers. This presentation will demonstrate and provide evidence that Canada is not doing enough and unprepared when it comes to addressing and managing affects of climate change within Canada’s borders and oceans. Using several examples, including Electric Vehicle batteries, this presentation will provide engineers with a perspective of applying strategic and process solutions to address climate change challenges. This presentation will also touch upon Canada’s history, mandate, and actions towards climate change, the daily contributors of climate change and plausible solutions for engineers to consider.
