To organize events and provide tools/information that will help to grow and empower professional women both personally and professionally.
The PEO York Chapter has hosted several successful events for our female members and as a result of feedback from chapter members, we recognize the need for more focus in Women In Engineering.
One important element is to facilitate a strong networking environment for women in different professional roles. In addition, we will encourage and educate young women to learn more about our dynamic profession.
Events hosted by WIE are open to men and women.
30 by 30 Initiative
In 2011, Engineers Canada launched a bold mission, the 30 by 30 initiative, a commitment to raising the percentage of newly licensed engineers in Canada who are women to 30 percent by 2030. The 30 percent figure is widely accepted as the threshold for self-sustaining change. This commitment has been recently expanded in Engineers Canada’s Strategic Plan 2019 to 2021 to include the professional development and retention of women in the profession.
